Providence is calling an Occupational Therapist (Occupational Therapy, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, Alaska. In this position you will:
Assesses, evaluates and implements treatment according to professional standards; provides direction and guidance to others as they follow through on the plan of care.
Communicates with team members and outside agencies to identify patient needs and overall condition of patient; anticipates future levels of care. Documents all aspects of care and outcomes.
Develops, implements and oversees the activity program for long term care.
Plans for patient discharge with attention given to home programs, equipment arrangements, and patient/family education.
Provides patient and family education in a variety of physical settings.
Implements care/service that recognizes age specific needs/issues of customers served.
Completes Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or Ph.D. in Occupational Therapy
Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of Alaska
Training in Basic Life Support
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- 2 years experience in Occupational Therapy
About the Providence Valdez Medical Center
Providence Valdez Medical Center is a 21 bed Critical Access Hospital and we employ about 100 people (87 FTE’s). Of those 21 beds, 10 are licensed Long Term Care beds and 11 are Acute/Swing Beds. We have four physicians on our active medical staff who practice out of the Valdez Medical Clinic. Our average daily census is three-four inpatients and 20-30 outpatients. Our facility contains an emergency room, labor room, post-partum, nursery, cardiac room, orthopedic, and med/surg rooms. We also have an operating room for emergency surgeries and elective procedures, C-sections, hernias and appendectomies. All our beds are licensed for “swing bed” status of which 1-3 are usually occupied.
