Providence Principal Segmentation Network Engineer in Washington


Principal Segmentation Network Engineer - Enterprise Information Services - located within Providence footprint of states (WA, OR, CA, AK, MT, TX, NM) *Hybrid

The Principal Segmentation Network Engineer will work with Network Services Engineers, Security Services Engineers, Senior Leadership, and Clinical Technology Services to design, implement, and support an enterprise-class network security capability. The goal is to reduce the risk profile of clinical devices and systems that directly support patient care. The candidate will be responsible for creating enterprise standards and best practices for designing, building and implementing a segmented network architecture across a large healthcare system.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering. Or equivalent education/experience

  • 8 years Related experience; 8-12 years preferred.

  • Strong experience with n-tier solutions.

  • Strong experience with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis) and ability to simulate service outages for point solutions (automated) and platforms (manually).

  • Strong experience influencing engineering team members in translating customer and technical requirements into service architecture to meet Quality of Service Expectations.

  • Strong experience leading and representing the Service in backlog discussions and standups to establish appropriate prioritization of Live Site requirements.

  • Strong experience leveraging data and metrics to drive behavior, process, and priority decisions. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Strong experience in advanced problem solving using systematic procedures and investigating problems utilizing root cause analysis.

  • Strong experience in automation, specifically related to deployment, recovery, or other manual processes. Scripting with one of PowerShell, Perl, Ansible, VB Script, Python, SQL.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience designing and supporting Cisco enterprise networks.

  • Experience implementing and supporting DOT1X-based authentication.

  • Solid understanding of network-based segmentation strategies and IoT designs

  • Extensive experience with TCP/IP, VLANs, and ACLs.

  • Experience developing and maintaining automated tasks to ensure compliance with security policies.

  • Experience configuring network security policies on firewalls and/or routers.

  • Experience with Cisco ISE authentication

  • Strong knowledge of network and security architecture best practice

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise switching and routing, and LAN/WAN technologies

  • Advanced understanding of networking principles, subnetting and the OSI model.
