Providence Health & Services Senior Coder, Inpatient, Per Diem in Washington
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling an Inpatient Senior Coder to work remotely within our footprint states: AK, CA, MT, NV, OR, TX and/or WA.
This role is a per diem on an as needed basis.
We are seeking a Senior Coder who will apply Applies ICD-10/CM/PCS codes to medical records based on documentation provided by physicians. Adheres to strict federal coding rules in selecting codes that appropriately reflect the condition, which the patient had, and the care that was provided. Abstracts clinical and statistical information for outcome measure and monitoring. Balances need for (95%) accuracy against timely completion for billing deadlines. Serves as a lead role by assisting other areas in the hospital in the review, corrections, and rebills of coded accounts.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Training of all coders in ICD-10-cm and documentation.
Auditing of coding and documentation used for coding, including remote coding and CDM coders.
Codes all phases of patient information including inpatient and rehab.
Knowledgeably applies ICD 10-cm encoders and other references.
Accurately assigns DRGs and monitors and audits assignment of DRG accuracy.
Audit accuracy of coding of anyone in training.
Develop training tools to train future coders.
Assist Document Specialists with questions and reviews documentation worksheets for accuracy of documentation and coding.
Work with other areas of the hospital assisting in review, corrections, rebills of coded accounts.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or equivalent education/experience.
Coursework/Training - AHIMA certified coding program.
5 years CPT and/or ICD-10-CM/PCS acute care hospital coding experience.
Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines.
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or.
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or.
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management.
